CAREER:Clive Mantle gained recognition when he played Little John in the ITV series Robin of Sherwood in 1984. Then after many guest appearances on shows and bit parts in films he landed a couple of major film roles. He played Johnny Ladder in Mack the knife (1989), Harry in White Hunter Black Heart (1990) and William in Alien 3 (1992). Then after Nigel Le Vaillant's departure from Casualty, Clive took over the role of the Casualty consultant. As Mike Barratt his gentle giant persona won him many admirers. After leaving the show in 1996 he starred in BBC sitcom flop 'Bloomin' Marvellous' (1997). Then he returned to his role of Mike Barratt in Casualty spin-off Holby City (1999).

Has made many TV guest appearances - played Bernard in an episode of Minder (1981), was Big Ben in an episode of Dempsey and Makepeace (1986), appeared in Lenny Henry Tonite (1986), Alas Smith and Jones (1987), played a brother of a man with arthritis in Casualty's series 3 episode Caring (1988), was a Vulcan in Chelmsford 123 (1990), was Eric Wetherby in an episode of oon (1991), was a police inspector in Drop the dead donkey (1991), a woman's husband in an episode of Bottom (1992), was himself in A Bit of Fry and Laurie (1995), appeared in an edition of Shooting Stars (1995), appeared in 'The imaginatively titled Punt and Dennis show' (1995), Simon Horton in an episode of The Vicar of Dibley (1998).
