Laura Milburn, the hospital's PR officer, launched a hospital magazine, "The Scanner". She also organised a charity ball to raise funds for the department.
Mike Barratt battled with consultant Henry Reeve-Jones over Trust funds. Laura revealed to the press that Reeve-Jones had a financial interest in the way he wanted things running. Mike hoped the rest of the board would back him after this but they didn't so he resigned.
At the end of the series the A&E team gathered for Ash and Laura's wedding.
