Mel appeared occasionally as a paramedic in series 14 of Casualty, and appeared more regularly in series 15. Mel was a capable paramedic, but showed herself not to be fearless when some dogs stood in the way of a patient. Mel wouldn't move from the ambulance, leaving Fin to do all the work. She later explained to him that she had a phobia of dogs, which started as a child, when she was attacked by a neighbour's dog. Later in the series we found out she was getting help to overcome her phobia. Mel left Casualty between series 15 and series 16.
