Daniel appeared in series 10 of Casualty, as SHO. He was probably the worst SHO Holby A&E has ever seen, and made several mistakes, more than one of which ended up with a patient or relative threatening to sue the hospital. He had ambitions to work in surgery, but was shocked when eavesdropping at Mike Barratt's door he heard Mike tell the surgical consultant that Daniel would never be fit for anything like that sort of work.
Daniel was depressed and stressed from the demands of A&E and his lack of ability, and started prescribing Prozac for himself. He confided in Jude Kocarnik. Towards the end of the series, Daniel told Baz Hayes that he wanted to give up medicine. On his last day, he saved the life of a young girl who was choking on a pen lid.
